How to get free beauty products online…

Current and aspiring beauty bloggers know how expensive it is to buy “supplies” for their blog. Makeup isn’t cheaper and neither are hair products so the average blogger can spend a pretty penny trying to get items to review or use for looks.

Over the past few months, I’ve been blessed to receive lots of stuff that I plan to review and I haven’t paid for any of it. Now I’m no beauty guru (yet) and I don’t have millions of followers looking to me for beauty tips so if I can do this, so can you. I’ve come up with three simple tips for you to potentially up your product stash with free stuff.

Reach out to brands and propose a collaboration.

This is by far the most difficult of the tips I’ll list because it requires you to create a pitch and connect with the companies directly. In order for brands to want to work with you, you must offer something of value to them. Do you have a large following? Do you produce unique, interesting content that will showcase their products and help them reach their target market? If you’re just starting out in blogging, you may want to hold off on this step until you develop a following and have content for brand managers to view before deciding to work with you. Once your blog or YouTube channel is established, it’ll be easier to secure partnerships.

In the meantime, analyze your blog and social media pages. After I pitched to a company, the owner called me and was looking at my Instagram page as we spoke. My page does have personal photos but overall the theme of it is to promote what I love instead of posting memes and having curse words or rants all over it. I truly believe that my presence on social media helped me secure the relationship with the company.

Follow the brands you love on social media. 

Brands want you to follow and interact with them. Companies also know that hosting giveaways is a great way to engage their fans. In the past month alone I’ve seen contests and giveaways from Milani Cosmetics, elf Cosmetics, Jane Carter Solutions, and more. The companies don’t usually require you to do much to qualify to win. Some giveaways simply require you to follow a page or two on Instagram, repost an image, tag a few friends in a comment, and/or create a makeup look using their products. Easy right?

Following the brands you love on social media ensures that you have access to their latest news and will be among the first to hear about product giveaways. Be sure to follow all steps in order to make sure you qualify to win whatever they’re giving away. Be patient because you may not win the first contest you enter but when that first win comes, you’ll be overjoyed.

Join Influenster
