On Wednesday, November 11th I did something I’ve been avoiding for a while… I photographed a wedding.
As a person who simply loves taking pictures, I was hesitant to take the responsibility of capturing images from one of the most important days of people’s lives. I didn’t want that type of pressure and I feared not succeeding and having a client not only be upset with me, but have a negative story to tell friends and family for life about a novice photographer named Alex who ruined their wedding day. Nuh uh, honey. That’s too much pressure.
But when a friend I’ve had for years was getting married in Houston’s Hermann Park, I couldn’t not bring my camera. I figured the occasion was worth the risk so my Canon and I had an adventure. I took some pretty good shots (if I do say so myself) and I’m super proud of them so I thought I’d share a few:
I learned a valuable lesson. Love is a beautiful thing and it’s a blessing to be able to capture it on camera. Will I be marketing myself as a wedding photographer anytime soon? No, but I’m no longer afraid to try new things. I’m still a fan of personality shots and event photography so I hope to get more of those opportunities. In the meantime, it’s good to know that I was able to capture my beautiful friend as a bride.
